If you choose to go a bit off the beaten tourist traks, consider this a intriguing and worthwhile detour. En route between the Northern National Parks, and Tanzania’s capitol, Dodoma, you find this site, nearby Kondoa district.
The paintings, situated in the Irangi hills, are ranging in color rom white to shades of red, brown and orange, and contain paintings of simple humans, hunting or playing instruments, or of various animals.
There are estimated to be between 150 to 300 painting sites in the area, and the oldest ones are estimated to be around 3000 years.
